What you need to know about blooming gerberas

Gerbera brought home because of the charm of her flowers. They look like chamomile in appearance, but they are distinguished by more vivid colors.

If it is illiterate to care for a gerbera, lovely flowers will not be seen. Therefore, you need to know all the subtleties of flowering gerberas.

Bloom

It blooms only when the length of daylight hours is twelve. The beginning of this period is August.

Usually gerbera blooms from August to early Novemberas the daylight gradually becomes shorter. A rest period that lasts the rest of the time is important. During this period, the gerbera restores strength, preparing for a new flowering period. This cycling is observed for three to four years. When a gerbera becomes mature, it is hard for it to bloom every year. It is necessary to divide the bush so that the plant is young.

Successful reproduction by division is possible only in the case when the gerbera is healthy and blooms cyclically.

In the usual home environment, the gerbera will bloom the same amount of time. If there is an opportunity to create a suitable artificial lighting and provide all the required conditions can extend the process. It is advisable to increase the period to a maximum until spring, and then allow the gerbera to rest.

If you demand constant flowering from it, in a couple of years it will have to be thrown away.

Why the room gerbera does not bloom at home, what to do?

Many consider gerbera cultivation meaningless if it is not decorated with flowers. A big rarity when this representative flora does not bloom at all. Probably, the cause of the problem lies in the wrong care. Here are a few basic mistakes that are made when grown and lead to the absence of flowers:

  • Huge pot. By planting a plant in it, you will provoke the development of the root system, since you will provide room for the lower part. In this case, the gerbera will spend all its forces on the development of the roots, therefore, it will not please with bright flowers. If the mistake has already been made, try to find a perfectly suitable, rather than close, potty.
  • Rare pot replacement. If the roots are cramped, do not wait for lush inflorescences. Provide gerbera with comfort by replanting it once every twelve months.
  • Increased nitrogen content in the soil. Fertilizers are, of course, good, but you cannot overfeed with nitrogen. Do not get carried away with ammonium nitrate!
  • Low temperatures. If the temperature regime required by the gerbera is not observed, it will spontaneously enter a period of rest, even if the lighting is excellent. It should be grown at twenty-four degrees - this is the average temperature. Even if the plant will be in a quiet period, you can not make it so that the temperature was below twelve degrees.
  • Too rare or too frequent watering. In order for the plant to bloom, it will have to be watered often, but in such a way that the liquid does not stagnate. If the humidity is so high, the soil will be infested with small worms that damage the plants.
  • Cold water. Even if you just spray cold water on a gerbera, it will get sick. Ill, it can grow, but the flowers are unlikely to please. Set aside or slightly warm the water before watering.
  • Spraying flowers. Like most other representatives of the flora, gerbera loves irrigation. But it is not necessary to subject flowers to watering! From this they are damaged.

Care after gerbera bloom

It does not need pruning. Such manipulation is performed only during the reproduction of the plant.

After flowering, the plant is preferably smoothly transferred to a state of rest. Gently lower the temperature so that it does not fall ill from a sharp drop.

If you want the flowering process to continue, it is not necessary to lower the temperature, because with one light it will not be possible to achieve the desired result.

What has faded does not need to be cut, but broken out, and then I will fight to remove it from the pot. Rotting parts can infect healthy stems and leaves of a flower, so do not keep them in a pot.

Gerbera - a plant that requires rest

Many believe that the plant does not suffer too much if it constantly blooms. In fact, it is very difficult for him to be constantly active.

Be sure to arrange gerbera periods of calm. This will give her a chance to live longer and multiply successfully.
