Since the beginning of this week, the cost of greenhouse vegetables imported from other countries in Poland has begun to decline after a rapid price increase. Just because of the large tariffs, the demand for cucumbers and tomatoes imported from other countries has weakened in recent days. Wholesale dealers are currently trying to resurrect demand by lowering prices.
The operators of the fruit and vegetable market in Poland believe that in the foreseeable time the cost reduction will increase and cucumbers from local greenhouses will start to appear on the markets, and at the end of February the first harvest of tomatoes will begin in the greenhouses. The season may start earlier due to warm and sunny weather.
Lowering the cost of greenhouse cucumbers and tomatoes in Poland will affect the incomes of Ukrainian manufacturers, who in a few weeks should harvest the first crops of cucumbers, and closer to March, the crops of tomatoes. The bulk of greenhouses in Ukraine this year have fundamental intentions in relation to the Polish market, focusing on last year’s experience. As it was reported, in 2016, Ukraine exported a record number of greenhouse vegetables to Poland.
