In 2016, Ukraine increased sunflower production

In 2016, Ukrainian farmers collected record volumes of sunflower seeds - 13.6 million tons, an increase of 21.7% compared with 2015, the press service of the Ukroliyaprom association said on February 16. According to the report, the total production of all oilseeds exceeded 19 million tons. In particular, 4.28 million tons fell on soybeans and 1.1 million tons of rapeseed. In 2016, the production of sunflower oil increased by 18.7%, and its exports - up to 23%. The production of refined sunflower oil increased by 5%.

Despite the global financial and economic crisis, the devaluation of the hryvnia and limited credit resources, Ukraine managed to maintain its leading position in the production and export of sunflower oil on the world market, the press service reports. At the same time, Ukroliyaprom is concerned about a 36% reduction in the production of soybean and rapeseed oil, due to the large-scale export of rapeseed and soy raw materials, which do not have any export duties.
