Russia, represented by the Office of the Rosselkhoznadzor of the Republic of Dagestan, banned the import of a dozen or so rabbits from Azerbaijan, considering them to be a source of danger to human health.
Illegal rabbits were discovered during a search of a Mercedes car by state inspectors of the Rosselkhoznadzor of the Republic of Dagestan. A citizen of Azerbaijan tried to smuggle animals into Russia. They were placed in the trunk of the car and were in cardboard boxes from under the bananas, according to the Office.
Also read:Identified animals did not have accompanying veterinary documents that could confirm their vaccination and veterinary preventive examinations. It was also unclear what the general health of the rabbits was and whether they were affected by any dangerous diseases.
Due to the lack of veterinary documents, rabbits can be a source of infection and pose a danger not only to their relatives, but also to people. In particular, from rabbits you can become infected with such diseases as scabies, tularemia, helminthiasis, fascioliasis, cysticercosis, pasteurellosis, listeriosis, the report says.
We recommend to read:Since rabbits can be infected with dangerous diseases, and their presence in Russia poses a threat to human health, state inspectors of the Rosselkhoznadzor have prohibited their importation into the country. The pet owner was issued a protocol on administrative violation (Article 10.8 part 1 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation), and they themselves were returned to Azerbaijan.
