Potatoes can be consumed a little before its technical maturity, when the size of the tubers reaches acceptable sizes, and the thin skin is well behind.

Early and middle-early varieties are planted mainly for the use of new potatoes.

Advantages and disadvantages

"Laura" has the following positive traits :

  • large sizes of tubers;
  • high yield of neat tubers;
  • medium ripening;
  • resistance to certain diseases;
  • high taste qualities;
  • long storage

There are some limitations:

  • low resistance to mechanical damage;
  • there is some demanding on the type of soil - you need enough potassium;
  • reacts negatively to the herbicide Metribuzin.

Herbicide Metribuzin used on large areas against weeds. If it is necessary to remove the grass, it is recommended to treat this substance in the early stages of potato development, when the sprouts can be hidden under the ground.

"Laura" was developed by German scientists - breeders to replace the popular variety "Scarlett". Presently considered the most productive variety redskin potatoes. The originator is the German company "EuroplantPflanzenzuchtGmbH".
It is not included in the State Register of the Russian Federation yet.

Agrotechnology

Seed potatoes Laura before planting should be prepared - go over from poor-quality tubers (damaged by rodents or mechanically, small), about 10 days to put into the light.

After good sprouts are formed, you need to "Laura" disinfect for prevention, processing by fungicides is possible. Planted "Laura" in the middle - the end of May.

IMPORTANT! Potatoes are not recommended for planting next to tomatoes, they have the same diseases and pests.

The soil temperature at a depth of planting (8 - 10 cm) should not be below 10 degrees. Very early or very late disembarkation may adversely affect yield.

Between plants should be at least 20 cm, on average - 5 pieces per 100 cm (42000 potatoes per 1 ha).

IMPORTANT! "Laura" develops many tubers, it is better to make the distance between plants more.

This variety responds well to quality care - loosening after rains, hilling, weeding, mulching, fertilizing with mineral fertilizers. Read more about how to feed potatoes, when and how to apply fertilizer, how to do it when planting.

In a too dry summer, potatoes need good watering. During the flowering of potatoes, it is better to remove the flowers, so all development will go to the tubers. The potato quickly rises and intensively develops the tubers, then is in a calm state.
