How to multiply begonia at home?

It is propagated by parts of the tuber, seeds, cuttings of leaves or stems, as well as parts of the leaf.

    Begonia breeding methods:

  • Reproduction of begonias with seeds at home. You will need the seeds themselves, a plastic container to germinate them with the purchased soil (to eliminate the risk of weeds) and plastic film (or a bag). In the middle of winter, scatter the seeds on the surface of the earth and spray it abundantly with a spray bottle.
Do not bury the seeds in the ground - they may suffocate.

Cover the seed container with plastic and place in a warm (about 24 degrees), well-lit place. Every day crops need to be sprayed, it is also necessary to air them daily - open the container for an hour and a half. After two weeks, the seeds should sprout. When several leaves appear on the sprouts, transplant them into small (50 ml) cups, and a month later - in larger glasses (100 ml).

  • Breeding begonias leaf. Take a healthy fresh leaf. From its reverse side, make several cuts across the veins. Place the sheet on its back on the ground and lightly press it with small stones or other light objects. Cover the pot with a sheet of plastic and place in a bright warm place.
The ground in the pot should be moist, it is best to sprinkle it from the spray with water with the addition of the drug-biostimulator.

Soon the leaf will give roots, and after 2-3 weeks sprouts will appear. When the sprouts are about a centimeter in diameter, carefully remove the excess parts of the "mother" sheet and carefully spread the "children" in small glasses.

  • Rooting of the begonia leaf in water. Cut a healthy leaf with short leg and put it in a glass of warm water. Keep the glass in a warm place under diffused light and replace the water regularly. It is recommended to dissolve an activated carbon tablet in water to prevent leaf rot. Over time, the sheet will give roots. When they reach 2-3 cm long, plant the sheet so that about a third of it is underground.

The cutting does not necessarily immediately plant in the ground, you can root it in a glass of water according to the technology described above, in the paragraph "rooting of the begonia leaf in water."
