Cucumber green manure to increase yields

Green fertilizers, that is, siderats, are things in agriculture that are not only useful, but even necessary. Over the years, the earth has a tendency to wear out and it will definitely need natural restoration in order for plants to grow and develop better in it.

Green man need for cucumbers, because they solve the problem of crop rotation. Let's see which ones are best.

What are used green manure

They are good for soil because:

  • restore and improve it;
  • fertilize;
  • enrich with nutrients;
  • increase moisture permeability;
  • reduce acidity;
  • protect from overheating;
  • promote the development of beneficial bugs, worms, bacteria;
  • destroy pests;
  • suppress weeds.
Important! Phacelia is considered the most versatile fertilizer. She has no related crops, so she grows well before and after any vegetables.

Which siderates are best to use.

In the open ground, the best siderats for cucumbers are white mustard, oilseed radish, rye, and oats.

In addition, great peas, beans, clover, lupine. Thanks to them, you will not be on standby for a couple of years to plant the cucumbers again, as they will saturate the earth with nitrogen and other utilities.

What cultures it is undesirable to use for cucumbers

There are no special contraindications for cucumbers. The only thing they are not recommended to plant after the cabbage later varieties and carrots.

Did you know? The word "cucumber" migrated to us from ancient Greece. There he was called "aguros", that is, "unripe, immature".

Growing technology: time and methods

Depending on the method of growing cucumbers, sideration takes place in different ways.

In the greenhouse

To help the land depleted of cucumbers, as already mentioned, can legumes, radish is good for greenhouses (this siderat is planted both in autumn and in spring).

It is interesting to know what siderata to use for tomatoes and potatoes.
Mustard also remains an excellent fertilizer. Under the film it is sown in March-April. For polycarbonate greenhouses - at the end of February.

Good effect gives the Viko-oatmeal mix. Biomass is growing rapidly, it is buried in the ground after 30-40 days, and for better processing, it is poured with a solution of EM-drug.

Cucumbers grow and among sideratov. Prepare grooves, fill there fertile land, followed by - seeds. As soon as the green part of the fertilizer grows, cut it off, leaving it on top. Constantly monitor the height of the biomass, so that it does not cover the cucumbers.

Gathering cucumbers, you can sow oilseed radish, white mustard. After a month and a half, a good vegetative mass is formed for the land.

Important! In the greenhouse in early spring, it is good to sow watercress: early greens can be used in salads, and the roots can be dug up with the ground for fertilizer.

In the open ground

Sow green fertilizer can be in early spring, as the snow melts. Tightening is not recommended because they simply will not have time to grow before planting cucumbers. It is advised to take cold-resistant crops: oilseed radish, spring rape, phacelia, mustard. Accelerated growth is achieved by covering the fertilizer film. Clean it after the sprouts appear. When the green mass grows 10-15 cm (subject to warm weather), make a notch in the green manure and place the seeds in them. Truncate with earth, cover with plastic containers cut in half.

When sprouting, the bottles can be removed. Natural fertilizers will perform several functions, becoming, among other things, reliable protection until the plants are stronger. Then cut the biomass, leaving it as mulch.

Green fertilizers are sometimes mowed even before planting cucumbers, so as not to constantly monitor siderats, which may form an unnecessary shadow for cucumbers.

Green mans are planted in open ground at the end of August or in the fall, gathering the harvest. These options for cucumbers are preferable, because the moisture collected during the winter and all the usefulness in the spring should nourish the vegetable, not green fertilizer.

Did you know? For the Roman emperor Tiberius, a great lover of cucumbers, the first greenhouses in history were built, where this vegetable grew throughout the year.
Of course, cucumbers need siderats. And there are a lot of green fertilizers useful for them. So think, choose the ones that suit you the most and enjoy the beautiful harvest!
