Ukrainian State Consumer Service destroyed about a ton of vegetables affected by nitrates

In the Nikolaev region, during the implementation of the state monitoring plan for foodstuffs by the Consumer Services Agency, 0.9 tons of sugar beet and potatoes were found and destroyed. During this event, in vegetables was detected excess norms of nitrate fertilizers.

When monitoring for the amount of nitrates, about 452 cultures were tested. Of these were: soybean, corn, potatoes, cherries, cabbage, apples, etc.

Studies were conducted to detect such nitrates as: B2C pyrethroids, ditilocarbamates, B3a organochlorine compounds; B3b organophosphorus compounds, B3c chemical elements (mercury) B3d mycotoxins (zearalenone), deoxynivalenol, B3f radionuclides.

All research in the field of detection of nitrates and hazardous compounds in fruits and vegetables was carried out by the Nikolaev Regional State Laboratory of the State Consumer Service of Ukraine, together with the Nikolaev Scientific-Production Center for Standardization, Certification and Metrology.

Recall that the majority of nitrate fertilizers in the world community are considered prohibited for use because of their toxicity and danger to the environment and the human body.
