  • tubers of medium size, weighing from 100 to 130 g;
  • the form is oblong and oval;

  • the pulp on the cut is white;
  • the starch content is moderate or high, ranging from 13.5 to 17%;

Characteristics of potatoes

The potato variety Ivan da Shura is a medium early variety, obtained on the basis of the famous Sineglazki. Variety is different consistently high yield, the harvest is well kept. Tubers are not subject to mechanical damage and do not lose their commercial properties for a long time.

Bushes are medium in size, not too sprawling, compact. The formation of green mass is moderate, the leaves are simple, dark green, with slightly wavy edges.

The corolla is small, assembled from large light-violet, rapidly falling flowers. Berries are rarely tied. The root system is powerful, 15-20 large, even potatoes are formed under each bush. The amount of non-competitive stuff or ugly tubers is minimal.

Sort steady to many dangerous solanaceous diseases: potato cancer, Alternaria, viruses. Early maturation protects leaves and tubers from late blight. Seed material is not subject to degeneration.

The taste of potatoes is pleasant: rich, delicate, not watery. The high starch content makes the tubers very nutritious with moderate calories. Tubers are ideal for making mashed air, they can be boiled, stewed, baked, stuffed.

Ivan da Shura is an author's variety developed in the only experimental nursery in Russia specializing in new promising hybrids.

The farm is located in the Kaluga region, they were offered several interesting varieties that have already been tested and have shown themselves well in the experimental fields. According to the creators' reviews, Ivan da Shura is a real star of the collection, differing unprecedented yield.

Under favorable climatic conditions, no less than 750 centners of selected potatoes can be harvested from 1 hectare.

The variety has not yet been included in the State Register of the Russian Federation, but seed potatoes are on sale. Recommended cultivation in temperate climates, the variety is suitable for large production fields, farms and personal farmsteads.

Advantages and disadvantages

Features of growing

Before planting, the tubers are treated with disinfectants, after drying they are sprayed with growth stimulants. The variety prefers light, nutritious soil based on black soil or sand, but can grow on loam.

For higher yields, it is recommended to enrich the soil with peat, humus, and wood ash.

Landing is carried out with a depth of 10 cm, the bushes are located at a distance of 30-35 cm from each other. The aisles are wide, not less than 70 cm.

The soil can be thrashed with straw or mowed grass, this will keep the moisture level at a normal level and avoid frequent weeding. Variety sensitive to moisture. For higher yields drip irrigation is recommended.
